TD-SCDMA Update

- TD-SCDMA mobile phones certified for 3G network access by China's Ministry of Information Industry have topped 16,000 units, coming in 17 models.

- ZTE announced to have been awarded the first access license for dual-mode and dual-standby mobile phone by the Ministry of Information Industry. ZTE's dual-mode and dual-standby mobile phones are designed to support both 2G GSM and 3G TD-SCDMA services.

- Also, ZTE has publicized plans to test applications of cutting-edge technologies developed in the company's TD-SCDMA R&D laboratory in Shanghai. Technologies to be tested for commercial feasibility include BBU (BaseBand Unit) + RRU (Radio Remote Unit) solution, 2G/3G switch, HSDPA, and multi-mode TD-SCDMA terminal applications.

- A 3G system and terminal (TD-SCDMA) development and industrialization project jointly promoted by Amoi Electronics and Spreadtrum Communications has received official approval from China's Ministry of Information Industry. In this project, Amoi is responsible for the design of circuit PCB, RF software, as well as development of mobile phones based on Spreadtrum's TD-SCDMA terminal chips and technology. Two 3G mobile phone models developed in this project, single-mode TD3000 and dual-mode T300, are currently undergoing user testing.
